Shear Art Salon & Spa has been servicing the hair and skincare needs of Tampa’s finest since 1986. Joanne Powers, Shear Art’s owner, opened Shear Art at the Village Corners. After spending 11 years in the heart of Carrollwood Village, Shear Art moved to the Village Center in order to accommodate its booming client base. At present, Shear Art provides services for over 15,000 Tampa Bay residents.
Shear Art features the finest hair designers, nail and skincare technicians, hair replacement and extension specialists. Shear Art’s designers have been featured in five international magazines and two national television shows since 2002.
In fall of 2013, Shear Art opened its second location in South Tampa, Shear Art Salon South.
In addition to being a community business, Shear Art supports various local charities and non-profit organizations every year. To date, Shear Art has raised over $150,000 for local charities.
Joanne Powers is the founder and serves as President of Shear Art Salon & Spa. She is the chair of the Florida Association of Beauty Professionals and CEO of Summit Salon Academy. Summit Salon Academy is a cosmetology school with the objective to produce highly trained and well prepared graduates for salons. The Academy is a Redken Premier School.
Joanne travels throughout the United States and Europe completing continuing education, including The Redken Exchange in New York. She holds a teachers training certification, is certified in advanced cutting, coloring and business management, and is a graduate of The Summit. She is a member of the Summit Salon Network, Professional Beauty Association, and The National Cosmetology Association.
In 2019, Shear Art expanded it existing leadership team to include 13 board members. Together they lead through compassion and kindness, and aim to elevate the staff to their greatest heights. Click here to meet our leadership team!
